Hailing from Minnesota and comprising members Eric Tracey (vocals, guitar), Brian Harper (bass), Jeff Hedrix (guitar, vocals) and Paul Tuschy (drums, vocals), Smiling Politely embraces a brand of hard rock mostly associated with the post-grunge era of alternative music, complete with crunchy distortion and melodic textures. The band emerged in 2004 as Smiling Politely (a name taken from an episode… of the popular television show “The Simpsons”) and released their debut EP, Screamelody. From that the band was honored by the Telly Awards for their music video “Killing Me” with 3 high honors. 2 Bronze Telly’s one for cinematography and one for video editing. Also Telly’s top award the Silver Telly for a music video. From there Smiling Politely released one more EP (Between Angels and Demons) before the release of their first full length album “Behind the Mask.” In 2008 a few tracks appeared in the movie and soundtrack for Heart of the City. 2010 SP was prominently featured in Thunderstruck 9 (an extreme snow mobile movie). Smiling Politely is currently on tour supporting their 2nd full length album “Through the Darkness.”
